Boredom at 3

Palette Knife, Brush

9” x 12”

June 2018

This painting is the sequel to the previous “Carefree”. While at the library, I captured a picture of my friend's younger sister as she sat at the table, head rocking on her arm, bored out of her mind and pouting as she watched people around her browse for books. I found this moment to be interesting and memorable as this little girl was only 3 years old, but her expressions and boredom where that of an older child—in a way she seemed so much older for her age as she waited patiently, albeit quite bored, for her sister. This painting's background is also done using palette knife.
