Repurpose

In pursuit and support of the sustainability movement, I was inspired to reflect it in my art. By using scrapped and throw-away materials, I was led to really think outside of the box and figure out ways to apply these unconventional textiles to create another dimension of depth within my pieces. Whether it was by collage or fully recycling materials, art has now become not only a channel for expression, but a channel of representation and action to support a global sustainable revolution.

Up-cycled Fabric Collages

One of my largest shifts in focus was finding ways to use a different “medium” while reusing “trashed” materials. In this process, I’ve learned to reuse scraps from old clothes and past sewing projects in new collages rather than throwing them away to prevent textile waste.

Plastic is infamously known as a environment pollutant that kills both animals and plants, damages ecosystems, and poisons the earth and its waterways. Thus, it was most logical to me to find ways to reuse this material to bring awareness to this issue.
